Rather than have two separate posts for these items I decided to lump them together since they are related.

The early codpiece armor I received was absolutely nothing like the movie version. It arched like the McDonald’s logo and looked bad. Plus there was no kidney armor in the back (hindsight and whatnot). Here is the armor I received from Etsy with that codpiece so you can see what I mean.

I tried making my own kidney armor with varying degrees of success. And not wanting to show up with what I had I ended up making my own codpiece and kidney armor from a Rubbermaid trashcan just for GalaxyCon Raleigh in 2022.

And here are front and back views with the “real” cod and kidney pieces plus the “Boba Thong”. Both are secured to the flight suit with velcro so it won’t “float” around my waist and the calculator keys on each side are half-functional (in that the right one is functional; the left is decorative but opens so I can get in and out of it with velcro holding it).

Codpiece:

✅ The codpiece covers the groin area and wraps around the entire front of the body.
✅ Armor is medium/darker green base with weathering that appears to expose a silver base color with yellow edges around the damage.
✅ Codpiece overlaps and connects to the kidney plate on the sides via 2 square studs, identical in shape/size to the shoulder studs.
✅ The Codpiece has a large dent in the front, and two raised rectangular details in the front upper right, matching film era visual references.
✅ A ¾ – 1” weathered white nylon, elastic or canvas strap that runs from the bottom of the cod piece, up the back to the kidney plate, creating a form fitting “Boba thong” as seen in film era visual references.

Kidney Plate:

✅ Kidney Armor wraps around the entire back of the body at the waist.
✅ Armor is medium/darker green base with weathering that displays exposed silver base color with yellow edges around the damage.
✅ Kidney armor connects to the Codpiece on the sides via 2 square studs, identical in shape/size to the shoulder studs.
✅ A ¾ – 1” weathered white nylon, elastic or canvas strap that runs from the bottom of the cod piece, up the back to the kidney plate, creating a form fitting “Boba Thong” as seen in film era visual references.
