Dissatisfied with how my spikes turned out and how my boots fit I purchased a pair from Man of War Studios and spikes from Quest Design Canada. Here they are clean (after painting the center area black):

And after weathering them which did not compromise their integrity in any way. Everything was done with Rustolem (black), Maskol, white paint and copper paint (on the spikes):
